Fairbanks, AK – The Interior Gas Utility released a Request for Proposal for the project’s gas distribution system design, Right-of-Way, and permitting in the North Pole area today. The RFP is only available at interiorgas.com.

The bid calls for a multi-disciplined engineering team, or teams, to design approximately 80 miles of residential gasline buildout including environmental documentation, permitting and ROW acquisition services. This is the first of a six year phased build out plan, which will begin construction in 2015.

A pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for May 29 from 10 to noon at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly Chambers. Official RFPs will be accepted on June 13, 2014 until 2pm at the IGU office, 100 Cushman Street, Suite 402. The award will be announced after July 1.

“This RFP is a significant milestone for the IGU and the community in the forward movement to provide low cost natural gas and energy relief to the Interior,” said Steven Haagenson, IGU General Manager.

The IGU was awarded a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on December 20, 2013 to the service the area surrounding the City of Fairbanks. For maps of the service area, proposed distribution plans, and the latest documentation and progress of the IGU, visit interiorgas.com.
