The Interior Alaska Natural Gas Utility (IGU) is proposing to expand an existing liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant and transport facility located near Point MacKenzie, Alaska. The existing liquefaction plant, known as Titan 1, can produce up to 50,000 gallons of LNG per day,
which is immediately filled into trailers and transported via the Parks Highway to Fairbanks, Alaska, where it is transferred into storage tank/vaporization sites for the expanding Fairbanks and North Pole natural gas distribution systems.
The proposed expansion includes design and construction of two additional LNG production trains, Titan 2 and Titan 3, with nominal capacities of 100,000 gallons per day each. Earliest operational target date for Titan 2 is October 1, 2021. The planned operational target date for Titan 3 is one to two years thereafter, depending on gas demands.
